TZM0640 Product Introduction

TZM0640 series MZO (Monocular Zoom Objective, single-tube continuous zoom microscope objective) adopts a modular design concept with parallel optical paths at both ends. It offers excellent optical performance and strong customization options. It is specially designed for machine vision inspection, industrial inspection, scientific research, and educational applications.

The standard configuration of the TZM0640 series MZO is TZM0640-W3100-TV3100-A50, with the following features:

  • Continuous zoom from 0.6X to 4.0X, with a zoom ratio of 6.5X
  • Large NA: 0.015-0.067 (using a 1X auxiliary objective)
  • High resolution: 18.3µm - 4.1µm (using a 1X auxiliary objective)
  • Wide field: 1.78mm - 57.14mm
  • Maximum compatible image sensor size: 2/3 inch (using a 1X TV lens)
  • Working distance: 56mm - 248mm
  • Adjustable back focal distance; parfocal throughout the zoom range
  • Image center adjustable; image center remains unchanged during zooming
  • Compatible with infinity-corrected biological or metallurgical microscope objectives
  • Compact dimensions: 194mm x 40mm (standard model)
  • Optional auxiliary objectives available in 0.35X, 0.50X, 0.75X, 1.00X, and 1.50X magnifications
  • Optional TV lenses available in 0.50X, 0.75X, and 1.00X magnifications
  • Optional brightness-adjustable LED ring light

TZM0640 Series MZO Naming Rules

The TZM0640 series MZO consists of five basic modules, as shown in the diagram on the left. These five basic modules are: the continuous zoom body, the auxiliary objective, the TV lens, the mounting adapter, and the optional modules. Apart from the continuous zoom body, users can choose the other modules according to their application requirements.


The final naming convention for the TZM0640 series MZO is to combine the names of each module using hyphens, forming a comprehensive name that clearly indicates the parameters of the MZO. For example, if you select the continuous zoom body TZM0640D, a 1.00X auxiliary objective (W3100), a 0.50X TV lens (TV3050), and a 50mm mounting adapter (A50), the continuous zoom microscope objective will be named: TZM0640D-W3100-TV3050-A50

Currently available TZM0640a modules: TZM0640 (standard model, no letter) and TZM0640D (where "D" indicates fixed zoom);

Currently available W3bbb modules: W3100, W3035, W3050, W3075, W3150;

Currently available TV3ccc modules: TV3100, TV3050, TV3075;

Currently available Add modules: A50 and A45;

The optional modules mainly consist of ring light modules (both standard ring light and polarizing ring light) and a coaxial illumination module (comprising a coaxial illuminator and an LED point light).

Other magnifications of auxiliary objectives, TV lenses, and mounting adapters can be customized according to requirements.

Purchase and Matching

The parameters for different configurations of the TZM0640 series MZO are listed in the table below. You can determine the required combination by following these steps:

  • Determine the potential 1) FOV and 2) object-side working distance, and select the auxiliary objective accordingly.
  • When using a 705 infinity objective, choose the M26x0.705 to M20x0.705 objective adapter.
  • Based on 1) sensor size (1/x inches), 2) imaging diagonal length, 3) imaging width, and 4) imaging height, determine the camera’s imaging circle size and select the TV lens.
  • Select a 45mm or 50mm mounting adapter.
  • Select the LED ring light module for reflective illumination.
  • If necessary, choose the coaxial illumination module.
  • If needed, you may also select the transmitted light illumination module.
  • Choose the appropriate camera.

Related Modules

Based on the modular design characteristics of the TZM0480 series MZO, each module of the TZM0480 series MZO is named separately. The specific naming rules and corresponding parameters for each module are as follows:

Module 1 is the continuous zoom body, which is the main component of the TZM0480 series MZO. Its code is TZM0480a; "TZM0480" represents the continuous zoom body code, and "a" represents the auxiliary function code of the continuous zoom body. The specific definitions are shown in the table below.

Module 2 is the interchangeable auxiliary objective, which connects by a threaded mount to the lower end of Module 1, the continuous zoom body. Its code is W3bbb, where "3" represents the product series number and "bbb" represents the magnification of the auxiliary objective. Auxiliary objectives of different magnifications are used to switch the overall magnification of the TZM0480 series MZO, and their working distances differ. For example, compared with the 1.00X auxiliary objective W3100 with a working distance of 86mm, the 0.50X auxiliary objective W3050 will reduce the overall magnification of the TZM0480 series MZO by half, while its working distance will extend from 86mm to approximately 174mm; the optical parameters of the auxiliary objectives are shown in the table below.

* When the same auxiliary objective is paired with different TV lenses, it is only to adapt to image sensors of different sizes, with minimal effect on the field of view.

Module 3 is the interchangeable TV lens, which mounts by a threaded connection to the upper part of the continuous zoom body in Module 1. Its code is TV3ccc, where "3" represents the series number and "ccc" represents the TV lens magnification. It is mainly used to match image sensors of different sizes. For example, compared with the 1.00X TV lens TV3100, the 0.50X TV lens TV3050 will halve the size of the matched image sensor while the field of view remains largely unaffected; the TV lens parameters are shown in the table below.

* TV lenses with higher magnification can also be paired with smaller image sensors; however, this will reduce the overall field of view of the MZO.

Module 4 is the mounting adapter, used to adapt to different diameter mounts, and is fitted around the continuous zoom body in Module 1. Its code is Add, where "dd" indicates the mounting diameter, available in 45mm or 50mm. The mounting adapter and the mount installation methods are shown in the figure below.

The optional modules mainly include ring light modules (both standard and polarized ring lights) and a coaxial illumination module (consisting of a coaxial illuminator and LED point light source). The details of the optional modules are shown in the table below.
