TZM0460 Series MZO Naming Rules

The TZM0460 series MZO consists of five basic modules, as shown in the exploded view on the left. These five modules are: the continuous zoom body, the auxiliary objective, the TV lens, the bracket adapter, and the optional modules. Except for the continuous zoom body, users can choose the other modules according to their application requirements.

The final naming convention for the TZM0460 series MZO is to join the names of each module with hyphens, forming a composite name that clearly indicates the MZO’s parameters. For example, if you select the continuous zoom body TZM0460D, a 1.00X auxiliary objective (W3100), a 0.50X TV lens (TV3050), and a 50mm bracket adapter (A50), the microscope will be named: TZM0460D-W3100-TV3050-A50

Currently available TZM0460a modules: TZM0460 (standard type, with no suffix) and TZM0460D (where D indicates fixed magnification);

Currently available W3bbb modules: W3100, W3035, W3050, W3075, W3150;

Currently available TV3ccc modules: TV3100, TV3050, TV3075;

Currently available Add modules: A50 and A45;

The optional modules mainly include ring light modules (both standard and polarized ring lights) as well as a coaxial illumination module (comprising a coaxial illuminator and an LED point light source).

Other magnifications for auxiliary objectives, TV lenses, and bracket adapters can be customized as needed.

Purchase and Matching

The parameters corresponding to different configurations of the TZM0460 series MZO are listed in the table below. You can determine the required combination by following these steps:

  • Determine the possible 1) Field of View (FOV) and 2) object-side working distance, then select the appropriate auxiliary objective.
  • If using a 705 infinity-corrected objective, choose the M26x0.705 to M20x0.705 objective adapter.
  • Based on 1) the sensor size (1/x inch), 2) the imaging diagonal, 3) the imaging width, and 4) the imaging height, determine the size of the camera’s imaging circle and select the appropriate TV lens.
  • Choose a 45mm or 50mm bracket adapter.
  • Select an LED ring light module for reflective illumination.
  • If necessary, choose a coaxial illumination module.
  • If necessary, choose a transmitted illumination module.
  • Select the compatible camera.

Our company offers a variety of microscope cameras. You can use our Camera Selection Tool to review the detailed parameters and choose the appropriate camera.

Related Modules

Based on the modular design of the TZM0440 series MZO, each module is named individually. The specific naming rules and corresponding parameters for each module are as follows:

Module 1 is the continuous zoom body – the main component of the TZM0440 series MZO. Its code is “TZM0440a”, where “TZM0440” denotes the continuous zoom body and “a” indicates the auxiliary function code. The details are shown in the table below.

Module 2 is the interchangeable auxiliary objective. It connects via a threaded interface to the bottom of Module 1 (the continuous zoom body). Its code is “W3bbb”, where “3” is the series number and “bbb” represents the magnification of the auxiliary objective. Different auxiliary objectives adjust the overall magnification of the TZM0440 series MZO and have different working distances. For example, compared with the 1.00X auxiliary objective “W3100” (working distance 86mm), a 0.50X auxiliary objective “W3050” will reduce the overall magnification by half and extend the working distance from 86mm to approximately 174mm. The optical parameters of the auxiliary objectives are detailed in the table below.

* Note: The same auxiliary objective, when paired with different TV lenses, only serves to accommodate various sensor sizes with minimal effect on the field of view.

Module 3 is the interchangeable TV lens. It attaches via a threaded connection to the top of Module 1 (the continuous zoom body) and is coded as “TV3ccc”, where “3” represents the series number and “ccc” indicates the TV lens magnification. For instance, compared to a 1.00X TV lens (TV3100), a 0.50X TV lens (TV3050) will be paired with an image sensor half the size, while the field of view remains essentially unchanged. The TV lens parameters are detailed in the table below.

TV3100

* Note: A TV lens with higher magnification can also be used with a smaller image sensor, although this will reduce the overall field of view of the MZO.

Module 4 is the bracket adapter, used to adapt brackets of different diameters by fitting between the continuous zoom body (Module 1) and the bracket. Its code is “Add”, with “dd” representing the mounting diameter. It is available in both 45mm and 50mm options. The installation method of the adapter with the bracket is shown in the diagram below.

Module 5 consists of the optional modules, which mainly include ring light modules (available in standard and polarized versions) and a coaxial illumination module (comprising a coaxial illuminator and an LED point light source). The details for these optional modules are provided in the table below:
