Naming Rules for the TZM0440 Series MZO

The TZM0440 series MZO consists of five basic modules, as shown in the exploded view on the left. These five modules are: the continuous zoom body, the auxiliary objective, the TV lens, the bracket adapter, and the optional module. Except for the continuous zoom body, all other modules can be selected by the user based on application requirements.

The final naming convention for the TZM0440 series MZO is to combine the names of each module with hyphens, forming a composite name that clearly indicates the parameters of the MZO. For example, if you select the continuous zoom body TZM0440D, a 1.00X auxiliary objective W3100, a 0.50X TV lens TV3050, and a 50mm bracket adapter A50, the microscope is named: TZM0440D-W3100-TV3050-A50

Currently available TZM0440a modules: TZM0440 (standard type, with “a” omitted) and TZM0440D (where D indicates fixed magnification);

Currently available W3bbb modules: W3100, W3035, W3050, W3075, W3150;

Currently available TV3ccc modules: TV3100, TV3050, TV3075;

Currently available Add modules: A50 and A45;

The optional modules mainly include ring light modules (available as standard ring lights or polarized ring lights), as well as a coaxial illumination module (comprising a coaxial illuminator and LED point light source).

Other magnifications for auxiliary objectives, TV lenses, and bracket adapters can be customized as needed.

Purchase and Matching

The parameters corresponding to different configurations of the TZM0460 series MZO are listed in the table below. You can determine the required combination by following these steps:

  • Determine the potential 1) Field of View (FOV) and 2) Object-side working distance, then select the auxiliary objective accordingly.
  • If using a 705 infinity-corrected objective, choose the M26x0.705 to M20x0.705 objective adapter.
  • Based on 1) the sensor size (1/x inch), 2) the imaging diagonal, 3) the imaging width, and 4) the imaging height, determine the size of the camera’s imaging circle and select the appropriate TV lens.
  • Choose a 45mm or 50mm bracket adapter.
  • Select the LED ring light module for reflective illumination.
  • If necessary, choose a coaxial illumination module.
  • If necessary, choose a transmitted illumination module.
  • Select the compatible camera.

Our company offers a variety of microscope cameras. You can refer to the detailed information in our Camera Selection Tool to choose the appropriate camera based on your requirements.

Related Modules

Based on the modular design of the TZM0440 series MZO, each module is named individually. The specific naming rules and corresponding parameters for each module are as follows:

Module 1 is the continuous zoom body, which is the main component of the TZM0440 series MZO. Its code is "TZM0440a", where "TZM0440" represents the continuous zoom body code and "a" indicates the auxiliary function code. The specific definitions are as follows:

Module 2 is the interchangeable auxiliary objective, which is attached via a threaded connection to the lower end of Module 1 (the continuous zoom body). Its code is "W3bbb", where "3" is the series number and "bbb" indicates the magnification of the auxiliary objective. Different magnification auxiliary objectives are used to change the overall zoom ratio of the TZM0440 series MZO, and their working distances also vary. For example, compared with the 1.00X auxiliary objective "W3100" with a working distance of 86mm, a 0.50X auxiliary objective "W3050" will reduce the overall magnification by half, and the working distance will increase from 86mm to approximately 174mm; the optical parameters of the auxiliary objectives are shown in the table below.

* Note: The same auxiliary objective, when paired with different TV lenses, is only used to accommodate different sensor sizes, with minimal impact on the field of view.

Module 3 is the interchangeable TV lens, which attaches via a threaded connection to the upper end of Module 1 (the continuous zoom body). Its code is "TV3ccc", where "3" is the series number and "ccc" represents the magnification of the TV lens. It is mainly used to match different image sensor sizes. For example, compared to a 1.00X TV lens (TV3100), a 0.50X TV lens (TV3050) will be paired with an image sensor that is half the size, while the field of view is essentially unaffected. The TV lens parameters are provided in the table below.

* Note: A TV lens with a higher magnification can also be paired with a smaller image sensor, though this will reduce the overall field of view of the MZO.

Module 4 is the bracket adapter, used to adapt brackets of different diameters, which is mounted on the continuous zoom body (Module 1). Its code is "Add", with "dd" indicating the mounting diameter; available in both 45mm and 50mm options. The installation method between the adapter and the bracket is shown in the diagram below.

Module 5 comprises the optional modules, which mainly include ring light modules (available as standard ring lights or polarized ring lights) as well as a coaxial illumination module (comprising a coaxial illuminator and an LED point light source). The detailed parameters for these optional modules are listed in the table below:
